Reflection and confidence: “Organ music in times of Corona”.
The German Music Council, together with the German Bishops’ Conference and the Evangelical Church in Germany to carry out the project “Organ Music in Times of Corona.” The project is a contribution to the “Year of the Organ,” which the state music councils have proclaimed for 2021. The project produced 17 compositions for organ that artistically reflect the Corona period in an artistic way. In the fall of 2021, these organ works will be performed in numerous concerts and church services. In this way, musical life will be actively and to encourage the listeners to deal with the experiences of the pandemic experiences. The project will conclude with a finissage concert on Nov. 21 2021, at which all 17 compositions will be performed together. The project is supported funded by the Federal Commissioner for Culture and the Media.

Is the recorder confined solely to the realm of early music? Lea Sobbe, who was born in Trier in 1994 and is currently completing her master’s degree at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, showed this to definitively not be the case at the 2021 Prix Credit Suisse Jeunes Solistes, winning the coveted CHF 25,000 prize for young musicians as well as the opportunity to appear at Lucerne Festival in a Debut recital. She will experiment with different types of recorders, from the Middle Ages to modern models, and explore the question of how much repetition is needed to achieve complete musical freedom, pleasure, and joy in playing. Sobbe will combine contemporary pieces with live electronics in a program of improvisations and early Baroque repertoire, which she performs with her chamber music partner on harpsichord, the Icelander Halldór Bjarki Arnarson. “Magnificent, daring, beautiful, flowing, touching,” remarked Noémi L. Robidas, jury chair of the 2021 Prix Credit Suisse Jeunes Solistes, describing her impression of Lea Sobbe’s playing and program conceptualization.

Lübben: Schloss Neuhaus – CasaNova – Klanginstallation Sagenhaft
25. July 2020 | bis | 26. July 2020 |
– 26. Juli 2020
Die Klanginstallation findet statt beim KulturSchlagLicht CasaNova 2020.

SRF2 Kultur (CH): Classical & Jazz Talents: Lucerne Festival: Debut Lea Sobbe
We (almost) all know how a recorder works. And yet we are amazed when we listen to the recorder player Lea Sobbe playing. Because it can do what only a few can: make your instrument fly. The musician, who was born in Trier in 1994 but currently lives in Basel, is so convincing with her playing that she has already received numerous awards, including the renowned “Prix Credit Suisse Jeunes Solistes” at the Lucerne Festival.
