Altötting (D): Favourite Pieces 2023 – Maria Dorner-Hofmann

7. November 2023
19:30bis21:30

Maria Dorner-Hofmann – Concert Recorders, Goat Horn, Native Flute, Electronics

An entertaining programme with considerable stylistic range is to be expected when recorder player Maria Dorner-Hofmann presents her current favourite pieces: A medieval Estampie stands next to compositions for recorder and live electronics (D. Hahne: dance macabre & Luscinia), the virtuoso arrangement of a Bulgarian dance contrasts with Irish ballads and the music of indigenous peoples, Johann Sebastian Bach’s solo Partita and Marin Marais’ famous Follies d’Espagne are heard alongside Luciano Berio’s Gesti.

Maria Dorner-Hofmann studied recorder with Carin van Heerden and Dorothee Oberlinger and piano pedagogy with Klaus Kaufmann at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. In November 2006 she won first prize and the audience prize at the “International Competition for Recorder Solo” in Feldkirch, Austria. She performs with various ensembles, for example with the harpsichordist Christian Brembeck, with the “Duo Epices” (recorder/harp), with the trio “Les Rossignols” (soprano/recorder/harp) or the pianist and didgeridoo virtuoso Dean Wilmington as well as a soloist. From 2007 to autumn 2023 she was a lecturer for recorder and didactics/teaching practice at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, and since September 2023 she has been teaching at the Max-Keller-Schule, Berufsfachschule für Musik in Altötting. Maria Dorner-Hofmann lives with her family in Eggenfelden.
