10_Zett Emm_25_Programm Zett Emm_20_25 – 13 years of youth festival for contemporary music

The Rheinische Musikschule Köln (Rhenish Music School Cologne) continues to surprise with innovative and unusual concepts. One of these is probably the only youth festival for contemporary music and dance, ‘Zett Emm_20_25’, which will take place for the thirteenth time this year on Saturday, 22 November from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Alte Feuerwache Cologne, Melchiorstraße 3. In 2018, the festival received the SPARDA Music Network Award 2018 and the Young Ears Audience Award 2018.

Zett Emm_20_25 is a festival by young people for all young people and adults. It was launched with the intention of conveying the fun of contemporary music to children and young people by having their own age group organise this event.

The idea arose from the desire to give young musicians, ensembles, composition students and pupils a platform to present their work to the public.

On this afternoon, the young musicians and composers will once again present funny, interesting, entertaining and varied contemporary music in five short concerts, each lasting half an hour. World premieres, choreographies, music videos, workshops, dance improvisations and discussion rounds promise an entertaining afternoon. The genre is broad: experimental music, improvisations, dance, new music, sound, sound art, electronic compositions…

A new feature this year is the expansion of the festival to the Porz location and the Kolumba Museum.

The festival is a project of the Rheinische Musikschule Köln, this year in cooperation with KölnMusik/Kölner Philharmonie, WDR, the dance academy of the Rheinische Musikschule Köln, the Institute for Computer Music and Electronic Media (ICEM) at Folkwang University of the Arts, Essen, the Cologne University of Music and Dance, the composition classes of the Dortmund Music School, the Humboldt Gymnasium Cologne, the Kolumba Museum Cologne and Studio Musikfabrik.

Admission to all events and participation in the workshops and open rehearsals is free of charge.
