Star flutist Dorothee Oberlinger and L’arte del mondo present an extraordinarily fascinating program that traces an arc from the oldest testimonies of human musicality to the present. And these testimonies are: Flutes! Flutes made of animal bones, up to 40,000 years old.
Dorothee Oberlinger meets the specialist for prehistoric bone flutes, Friederike Potengowski, and the percussionist Georg Wagner. Together with the ensemble l’arte del mondo, the artists have developed a breathtaking kaleidoscope of sounds throughout human history. The story of the flute is also told, as a human breath through time. And popular “hits” are not forgotten…
Dorothee Oberlinger is one of the most renowned representatives of her instrument. Since her debut at London’s Wigmore Hall, she has performed on leading international stages. Oberlinger directs the Institute for Early Music at the Mozarteum Salzburg and the Arolsen Baroque Festival. She is artistic director of the Potsdam Sanssouci Music Festival.
The orchestra l’arte del mondo sees itself in the tradition of so-called early music. It has given concerts at renowned festivals such as the Ludwigsburg Schlossfestspiele, the Bonn Beethovenfest, the Rheingau Music Festival, the Cité de la Musique in Paris and the Halle International Handel Festival.
