A fun discovery in my spam folder: In order to protect myself from fake e-mails, I use a specially created email address for relevant data and sensitive online services such as Paypal. This has been proven several times, because so-called fake phishing emails, as in this case, will recieved to an email address that’s definitely unknown for Paypal. And I can be sure that such emails are fake. Someone from Russia now taked the cake, sending Paypal Phishing mails, coded so amateurish, that the fake link to make the recipient submit their data to any scammers, is not visible and unable to use. Well 🙂
Yacy – the decentralised peer-to-peer web search net
In the course of the current data protection scandals alternative solutions are welcome to search the Internet. An interesting solution is Yacy, a search software that provides a decentralized search engine based on a peer-to-peer network. All searches are local stored and can be supplemented with results of other users through a peer-to-peer network, which improves the quality of search requests and a centralized storages thereof is prevented. Besides its function as a search engine for the Internet Yacy can also be used as a search portal on the intranet. The open-source software, which is supported in English, German, French, Spanish and Arabic, can be installed on PCs with Windows, Apple OSX and Linux operating systems easily and free, of course!
The website of the project provide comprehensive services with FAQ, forum, wiki, blog, etc. YaCy is a real alternative search engines, which will hopefully find many users and also financial supporters.
