The flute and the drum are among the oldest instruments in history and have been closely linked to human culture for thousands of years. But which melodies actually haunted the minds of people from the past? Starting with minstrel dances that a medieval market visitor might have brought home as a catchy tune along with his shopping, Sophie Schambeck and Sebastian Wielandt build bridges to the 21st century with intermittent “charts”. Among others, Flow my tears by John Dowland, one of the best-known songs from Renaissance England, will be heard, as well as baroque dance movements by Bach.
